Detroit Red Wings Preview: Round and Round They Go

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings, due to injury, are forced to make some lineup decisions. Here they are:

With Bobby Ryan still day to day, could Givani Smith make an appearance tonight? Will Frans Nielsen find his way into the lineup? What about Evgeny Svechnikov, who had a goal the other night? Here’s hoping both Smith and Svech make the cut tonight.

Red Wings Riding a Two Game Winning Streak

Yes, that’s right. Not only did they sweep a series but the Red Wings bounced back nicely after a thumping to Nashville last Thursday.  Now everyone sees how Detroit follows up. With two games against Florida and Tampa Bay in the next six days, can the Red Wings sustain the forward momentum they had against a Columbus team trying to stay in the playoff hunt?

Fox Sports Detroit’s Final Telecast Tonight

The Fox Sports has already been replaced on Twitter, and now begins a new telecast on Bally’s Sports Detroit. It’ll take time to get used to that one. Though transitioning from PASS to Fox Sports Detroit took some time as well, too.

Red Wings Worth Watching

  • Evgeny Svechnikov. It feels like he could really get into a groove right now and find a chance to cement his place into the lineup. Head coach Jeff Blashill was very complimentary of him in his post game presser. Now’s the chance for Svech to make a run
  • Dylan Larkin: The captain has been leading the way all season, and has looked refreshed since having Robby Fabbri on a line with him.
  • Steve Yzerman: The Athletic’s Max Bultman penned a great piece about recently waived Shayne Gostisbehere and whether the Red Wings general manager will place a claim on him before noon tomorrow. As a fan, I’m intrigued and wonder if he could be another success story that Yzerman acquires during this rebuild.
