Red Wings sign defenseman Seth Barton to two-year entry level contract

Winging It In Motown

The Red Wings have added another ELC to the books — defenseman Seth Barton, a former third-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft has signed a two-year deal with Detroit.

Barton, who will turn 22 in August, just closed out his third season with UMass-Lowell. In 83 games, the right-shot defenseman posted a total of 36 points (7-29—36). Detroit acquired the pick that ultimately landed Seth Barton in the Petr Mrazek trade with the Philadelphia Flyers.

It’s unclear what the future holds for Barton right now, but the assumption is that he will join the Grand Rapids Griffins, and perhaps see limited playing time this season.
