Winging It In Motown

Tyler Bertuzzi running out of time to rejoin Detroit Red Wings this season. Here’s why – Freep

that’s a realistic outcome now that there are only five weeks left.

Freep’s headline writers remain undefeated for unnecessary clickbaity titles. There are actual quotes in there that talk about how he has been skating recently but has also had some setbacks in the process so they’re not sure when he’ll be ready for the week’s worth of conditioning skating it will apparently take for him to get back into the lineup.

Honestly by now I want him back on the safest timeline rather than the quickest.

Mrazek Assigned to Chicago for Conditioning – NHL.com

For those who like to keep track of the ex-Wing squadron. Here’s Red-34 calling in from IR.

Mrazek backstopped the Wolves to their 5-2 win over the Griffins yesterday afternoon, stopping 43 of 45 shots.

Matt Kiersted headed to join NHL-leading Florida Panthers – Grand Forks Herald

Kiersted, an undrafted free agent, had his choice of teams. He whittled the list down early this week and officially chose Florida on Wednesday.

With his choice of teams and Florida’s injury woes going on right now it’s a pretty convenient match for one of this year’s bigger NCAA free agents (like Danny DeKeyser was when Detroit signed him). My hope for him outside of the Red Wings is that he personally takes Radko Gudas’ job on the blue line without replicating his play.
