Wings Sign Pickard to One-Year Extension

The Detroit Red Wings announced the signing of goalie Calvin Pickard to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday.

Pickard is expected to serve as the starting goalie with the Grand Rapids Griffins, behind newly-acquired Alex Nedeljkovic and returning Thomas Greiss in Detroit.

With the Red Wings’ organizational goaltending in a bit of flux, keeping the veteran netminder with the Griffins gives a bit of important continuity.
