Red Wings Pre-Draft Prospect Breakdown: Logan Cooley

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings draft is going to be fun this year. More than probably most years. The reasoning behind that? The fact that nobody really knows how the board will fall this time around. I mean, we’d like to say that Shane Wright is the sure-fire first overall pick, but that may not be the case.

According to multiple reports from current NHL draft scouts, there are a few teams who happen to be a little lower than most on the OHL center. I mean, being in the top 10 puts the Wings in a great position to end up with a potential slider. By that, I’m referring to a player who slides down the board a little bit because the teams ahead of them draft positional need ahead of best player available.

The Red Wings currently hold the eighth overall pick in the 2022 NHL entry draft. So, looking at some mock drafts, it looks as though they are in position to get one of the top players in this draft. I will say in the spirit of being transparent, it’s unlikely they will get either center, Shane Wright or wing, Juraj Slafkovsky. However, everyone else appears to be fair game. Therefore, if something happens, it’s good to be prepared.

This article will breakdown future NHL center, Logan Cooley.
