During training camp this season for the Detroit Red Wings, there were a few names that fans had expected to battle for a roster spot on opening night or perform well enough to have management look their way when they needed a player to call up to the NHL roster.
Simon Edvinsson and Jonatan Berggren headlined that list, and now, in March, they are both getting the time with the club that most had anticipated. To most people’s surprise, Elmer Soderblöm cracked the roster on Day 1 and had a bit of a stint in the Detroit Red Wings uniform before being sent back to Grand Rapids after recovering from an injury.
He has since been working on refining parts of his game, hoping to become a mainstay on the roster for next season. Who could be those prospects that will find time in Detroit during the 2023-24 season?
