The Detroit Red Wings have announced some big news about the 2023-24 season and their schedule. They will be traveling overseas to play a few games in Sweden, partaking in his season’s NHL Global Series.

The Detroit Red Wings are known for their rich history of talent coming out of Sweden. It’s been a pipeline for many teams, but the Red Wings have had their Swedish pipeline produce some truly amazing NHL players over the years.

Including players currently on the roster. They will be heading to the home country of Lucas Raymond and Jonatan Berggren, among many others. It has to be exciting for these players to get the chance to play an NHL game in front of their home country and fans in Sweden.

It’s a big deal for the Swedish players on the team and the Red Wings, who have to be looking forward to this chance to play overseas as a part of this year’s NHL Global Series. This is the second time they have played overseas in Europe, playing against the St. Louis Blues in Sweden in 2009-10.

Detroit Red Wings to take part in the 2023 NHL Global Series.

The Red Wings will play two games in November overseas as a part of this year’s NHL Global Series. They will play against Ottawa on Thursday, November 16th, and then against Toronto on November 17th.

It will be two challenging games on back-to-back nights, that’s for sure. Ottawa has the makings of a rival with the Red Wings with a couple of real chippy match-ups between the two teams so that it could make for a fun game overseas. Meanwhile, the Leafs have always been a good foe of the Red Wings, and it will be fun to see the two teams face off.

Either way, the NHL Global Series is going to be great for the Red Wings and their players to get the chance to showcase NHL hockey to fans overseas. The Red Wings made a big release about the announcement on Twitter, featuring some clips of players talking about the event; here are a couple.

It’ll be a great experience, no doubt, and it will be fantastic to see the Red Wings taking part in this event next fall. The games will take place in Stockholm, and I’d bet many Red Wings greats will be in attendance, given how many of them are Swedes.

It’s another chapter of Red Wings hockey and its storylines/bloodlines through Sweden, which is great for the Red Wings and the game.
