Morning Skate: Red Wings vs Blackhawks

Winging It In Motown

Time: 7:30 PM EST

Place: Little Caesars Arena

TV: BSDET, NBCSCH

Radio: 97.1 FM The Ticket/1270 AM

The Wings get ready to close out their schedule against the Hawks with a two-game homestand against their old little brother. Unfortunately, what looked like would be a competitive series between two bottom-feeder teams hasn’t gone quite like I expected. The Wings are 1-4-1 against Chicago and have had their clocks generally cleaned by these dorks.

Chicago is starting to fall out of contention, much later than expected. They’ve won their last two games just like Detroit, but have gone 5-5-0 in their last ten, whereas Detroit has managed to lose just as many games while earning two more points (5-3-2).

Mostly today is about seeing the debut of Jakub Vrana. The newest addition skated yesterday on a line with Michael Rasmussen and Valtteri Filppula; he also slotted directly into Anthony Mantha’s right-side flank spot on the 2nd power play unit. Richard Panik skated with Vlad Namestnikov and Sam Gagner. At the very least we should have two lines that are a real pain in the ass to play against I suppose.

Let’s see if the Hawks can contain Adam Erne.

GDU coming up later in the day. Stay tuned and LGRW!
