Red Wings announce Dylan Larkin to miss remainder of season due to injury

Winging It In Motown

The list of Red Wings players who won’t suit up again this season due to injury continues to grow — Friday afternoon, the team announced that captain Dylan Larkin will miss the remainder of the season:

Granted, there’s only seven games left in the season, but the news comes after the team announced that forwards Tyler Bertuzzi and Frans Nielsen would be sidelined for the rest of the season due to injury.

Larkin was ruled out of Thursday night’s game with an upper-body injury, which ultimately turned into a 7-3 rout over the Dallas Stars thanks to a four-goal game from newcomer Jakub Vrana. Still, when you look at the list of injuries that are currently saddled on the Red Wings, it’s pretty ugly:

Tyler Bertuzzi, Robby Fabbri, Bobby Ryan, Frans Nielsen, and now Dylan Larkin.

So, this puts the team down a center, and fans are feverishly awaiting the NHL debut of prospect Joe Veleno after a successful season in the SHL. Veleno is still dealing with concussion protocol — it’s unclear if we’ll see him suit up for a game before the season wraps up.

The Red Wings will play Dallas again Saturday night. Puck drop is slated for 7pm at Little Caesars Arena.
