Red Wings: Analyzing Detroit’s Top Prospects’ NHL Arrival

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings added eight players in the most recent NHL Entry Draft.  A lack of regular season success has provided Detroit with numerous top picks and the Red Wings now boast one of the best prospect pools in the NHL.  Two players from this years draft now help to comprise the Top 10 prospects in the organization.  I will rank them based on the order I believe they will arrive into the NHL.

Moritz Seider

Moritz Seider continues to be the top prospect in the Detroit Red Wings organization.  He should start with Nick Leddy on the top pair of defensemen to start the season.  Seider appears to be the #1 defenseman that has eluded the Red Wings since the retirement of Nicklas Lidstrom.  Seider is no Lidstrom, but he is a solid defense prospect who can play on the power play, kills penalties and plays a regular shift.  Expect Seider to play 20-22 minutes per night in his first season in the NHL.
