Winging It In Motown

The Red Wings have announced they’ve locked up key RFA Jakub Vrana on a three-year agreement. While the team doesn’t disclose salary numbers, Elliotte Friedman was out with the dollar amount immediately: AAV of $5.25 million:

The news comes about a day after reports that both sides were about $2 million apart. Vrana and Detroit were set for an arbitration hearing tomorrow, August 11th.

Vrana was acquired last season in a trade with Washington that sent Anthony Mantha to the Capitals in exchange for the 25-year-old winger and some draft picks. Vrana immediately stepped in as a playmaker, posting 11 points in 11 games (8 goals, 3 assists).
