Preview: Detroit Red Wings vs Carolina Hurricanes

Octopus Thrower

As the Red Wings prepare to host the Carolina Hurricanes in their 2nd meeting of the season, let’s take a look at how the two teams are stacking up.

The Hurricanes are 1st in the Metropolitan Division and are 2nd overall- proving that they will be an incredibly tough opponent for Detroit as they look to continue their winning streak which is currently five games. Detroit on the other hand does not have this winning momentum behind them as their last game was a 10-7 loss to Toronto, but the way that they were able to keep themselves in that game shows that they have the ability to compete against these tougher teams.

Game time tonight is 7:30 PM in Detroit, Michigan.

Player Focus

Lucas Raymond had a three-point night (2G, 1A) against Toronto on Saturday and was awarded the 3rd star of the game.

So far this season, Raymond has scored 15 goals and 27 assists for a total of 42 points while carrying a +6 rating at this time. In his last 10 games, he has recorded eight points- four of which were goals and the other four were assists- with two of those goals being recorded Saturday against Toronto.

In his rookie season in the NHL with Detroit, Lucas Raymond is currently leading all rookies in point scoring while being 2nd in rookie assists and 3rd in rookie goal scoring.
