Would Reilly Smith be a Good Fit for the Red Wings?

The Detroit Red Wings season has come to a close. While sixteen teams remain playing in the playoffs, the Red Wings front office will begin taking a look at the NHL entry draft as well as preparing for what I’d expect to be, a busy off-season.

When starting free agency, the first thing you should do is sit down and meet with the coaches and the front office in order to figure out how to proceed. Most of the time, they will ask for some help in a certain position. However, this year is a little different for the Red Wings.

As things currently stand for the Red Wings, they do not have a head coach to consult with. Therefore, their first choice of action will more than likely be to hire a new head coach and fill out the staff. Once that is concluded and set, then Yzerman can proceed.

Without us knowing who will become the next coach of the Detroit Red Wings, it’s hard to really set up a realistic game-plan. Nonetheless, it’s always fun to speculate and come up with thoughts or ideas. So, with that being said, there is a name out there that could be hitting the free agency that I feel the Red Wings should call about.
