The Detroit Red Wings picked up a win on Thursday night, cruising to a 2-1 victory over Calgary after Ville Husso put the team on his back for a victory. What should have been a tune-up practice for the Red Wings to stay fresh and make some adjustments ahead of their context on Saturday turned out to be a bit more eventful.

Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond is now listed as day-to-day on the injury report after sustaining an injury during practice. It was reported that Raymond and defenseman Ben Chiarot collided with one another.

According to other tweets from the Red Wings beat writers across various outlets, the collision seemed to leave Raymond frustrated, slamming a door on his way off the ice and heading to the locker room. Indeed a big blow to the Red Wings’ offense.

On top of the fact that the Red Wings have not played a game without Raymond since he made his debut, as Ansar Khan of MLive denotes in the tweet above. The Red Wings recently scratched Dominik Kubalik in the wake of Filip Zadina’s return. Now, he may be called on once again, with Raymond possibly needing time to avoid any further issues.

Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond leaves practice on Friday.

Through this point in the season, Raymond has played in 50 games to this point in the 2022-23 season. He has 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 total points and has been a big piece of what the Red Wings’ offense.

While Raymond could be good to go on Saturday, it’s a cause for concern and something to keep an eye on ahead of the puck drop against the Canucks tomorrow. The Red Wings cannot afford to be without any of their offensive pieces, and being without Raymond, in any event, would be a tough-go for the team.
