Detroit Red Wings vs. Flames Game 54 Preview, Prediction, and Odds

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings continue to get the offense rolling. For Detroit, the Red Wings continue to find their offense and are excelling in that aspect. The goals keep pouring in, and even with a few soft goals on Wednesday night, the Red Wings were able to put up four goals in regulation.

The Canadian stint continues during the Detroit Red Wings season as the team takes on the Flames in Calgary. After three games at home, they headed out on the road for three games against the three Canadian teams they faced on home ice.

The Red Wings were able to cap off a victory against Calgary a week ago and are now looking to go into their barn and do the same thing. Beyond that, another win would put them at five in a row as the road trip continues.

But even then, the goal on road trips is to come away with as many points as games played, and the Red Wings have four games in what will be a five-game road trip. They can get across that threshold with at least one point against Calgary.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Flames

If the Red Wings can keep things going the way they have, they really do have a chance to pick up their fifth straight. The Red Wings’ offense has been a bright spot, and the team has come out and gotten it done early.

Getting off to a good start in the first period would be a big part of the Red Wings finding success against Calgary. It was a bit of a lackluster performance last Thursday, even though the Red Wings came out on top.

Creating better-scoring chances than they did in the last match-up is vital for the Red Wings to find success. Avoiding letting the travel and back-to-back games on the road get to them is also a potential roadblock to their success in tonight’s match-up.

Plus, there’s a chance that forward Jakub Vrana is able to get back into the lineup. Vrana was scratched on Wednesday night but could very well find his way into the lineup before Lucas Raymond returns, with him being placed on the Injured Reserve (IR) after an injury sustained during practice.

Game: Detroit Red Wings (25-20-8) v.s. Calgary Flames (25-18-11)

When: Thursday, February 16th

Time: 9:00 PM ET

Where: Scotiabank Saddledome

Where to Watch: Bally Sports Detroit

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Calgary Flames are the favorite on the Moneyline with a -245 payout. The Red Wings have a +205 payout on the Moneyline and have a -135 payout at +1.5 on the Puck Line. Calgary has a +115 payout at -1.5 on the Puck Line. The over/under is set at 6.5. The over has a -120 payout, and the under has a +100 payout.

Prediction:  For the Red Wings, things have been working out quite well, including the offense, which continues to fire on all cylinders. However, Calgary is looking to put a stop to this and their win streak. I like the Red Wings to take it home against Calgary before things slow up on the road trip. I’m not sold on the Red Wings being able to come out and take it to Calgary. For that reason, I’m playing it safe. I’m picking Detroit on the Puck Line at +1.5 and the under at 6.5.
