Detroit Red Wings vs. Flyers Game 72 Preview, Prediction, Odds

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings split the home-and-home with the St. Louis Blues this week after a shootout win on Tuesday. They would fall 4-3 on Thursday after another failed comeback attempt.

The Detroit Red Wings are also without starting netminder Ville Husso, who continues to remain injured and continues undergoing testing. In his absence, the Red Wings are turning to Alex Nedeljkovic, who was recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins in the absence of Husso.

As the Red Wings head east, they are gearing up for a Saturday matinee against the Philadelphia Flyers as the two teams clash in Philadelphia. The Flyers have won their last two games and are looking to take home no.3 against Detroit. In their last ten contests, Philadelphia holds a 4-4-2 record.

The Red Wings will be sending Nedeljkovic to man the pipes, which could turn disastrous, so Philadelphia just needs to get their offense going and keep the Red Wings’ offense at bay. For the Red Wings, Hellberg needs to sit for a game after being pulled early on Thursday, which means the team will give Nedeljkovic a look.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Flyers

This one could get ugly for the Red Wings. They will have to stop Kevin Hayes, Joel Farabee, and Travis Konecny on offense and avoid letting Tony DeAngelo or Ivan Provorov tap into offense from the blueline.

Carter Hart remains the Flyers’ number-one option between the pipes, and the Red Wings will have to get their offense rolling to capture a win against the Flyers. Detroit has 11 games left in the campaign and is looking to get across the finish line.

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Philadelphia Flyers are the favorite on the Moneyline with a -130 payout. The Detroit Red Wings have a +110 payout on the Moneyline. The Red Wings are the favorite on the Puck Line at +1.5 with a -215 payout. The Flyers are -1.5 with a +185 payout. The over/under is set at 6.5. The over has a -105 payout, and the under has a -115 payout as things stand.

Prediction: Nedeljkovic is in net… hammer the over. No, seriously, hammer the over. I just have a feeling this game could get ugly for the Red Wings. If they squeak out a win, it’s going to be a higher-scoring finish, like something along the lines of a 5-4 or 4-3 defeat. The Flyers are the favorite, barely, and it just seems like they should be more of the favorite in this matchup.
