Detroit Red Wings vs. Sabres Game 78 Preview, Prediction, Odds

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings have been on a bit of a hot streak. After getting their butts handed to them by the Winnipeg Jets, the team hit the reset button, and the results have been impressive as they have settled back in and taken home victories in each of their last two contests.

They were able to squeak out a win against the Toronto Maple Leafs and steal a game from a contender. Then the Detroit Red Wings went off to Montreal and were able to control the game from start to finish. A pretty impressive showing, capping off a 5-0 victory.

Fortunately, the Red Wings returned home for a home-ice matchup as the Buffalo Sabres made the trip to face off with Detroit at Little Caesars Arena. The Sabres want to stay alive in the Wildcard hunt, but it may come down to the wire on this one.

For the Red Wings, the nod of approval was given by Steve Yzerman, who labeled the Sabres as being ahead of the Red Wings in their rebuild progress. For the Red Wings, they are looking to do what Buffalo is doing now in 2023-24. Competing.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Sabres

For the Sabres, the emergence of Tage Thompson as a true offensive weapon has been a blessing. Casey Mittlestadt has started to find his way in Buffalo’s lineup, and it’s always hard to overlook Alex Tuch, who has also been a contributor for the Sabres this season.

You also cannot forget about Dylan Cozens, who already signed an extension to stick around in Buffalo and look to compete. On the point, Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power are their young defenders to build with.

This should be a fun matchup for the Red Wings, who will look to battle with another rebuilding team in the same-ish stage as them, with the Sabres being a few steps ahead.
