Detroit Red Wings: Dominik Kubalík a welcome addition to offense

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings continue to move forward with the future of his organization. While it was a while back, General Manager (GM) Steve Yzerman made sure he added some new faces to boost the team’s forward core.

One of the players that the Detroit Red Wings targeted was Dominik Kubalík. He’s a 27-year-old forward who has done an excellent job settling into the team’s offense and becoming a contributor. Kubalík signed a two-year deal with a $2.5 million average annual value.

The Red Wings got a good one by bringing in Kubalík. He’s been able to get into a groove right away. Even though he has bounced around the team’s forward core and line combinations, he’s done an excellent job adding some offense and putting the puck in the back of the net.

He will return to the Red Wings organization in 2023-24 and hope to help be a part of something special as the Red Wings try to snap out of the rebuild. There are plenty of reasons to believe he can be a productive part of the team’s offense again next season, but it’s early to make those declarations.

Detroit Red Wings forward Dominik Kubalík has been a welcome addition.

For the Red Wings, there’s plenty of reason to be hopeful. This team keeps moving in the right direction. They have been building, and having players like Kubalík who can jump in and make an impact is critical.

Kubalík has gone out and played in 76 games, with 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 total points. He’s third on the team in both points and goals early on in 2023-24. A $2.5 million average annual value and plenty of production make him an exciting addition.

In his first season in the NHL while with the Chicago Blackhawks, Kubalík scored 30 goals and added 16 assists for 46 total points. That means he is just one point away from tying his career-best and two points away from surpassing it.

The Red Wings have to be looking forward to seeing what Kubalík can do for the team moving forward. While the last few grains of sand are falling in the 2022-23 hourglass, Kubalík has a chance to come back in 2023-24 and contribute to the teams’ offense, but also on the power play.

Kubalík has also spent some time on the power play, which has helped him pick up seven goals and ten assists for 17 total points. The Red Wings should be happy with how well Kubalík has performed in his arrival to the organization and in his first season.
