Detroit Red Wings vs. Hurricanes Game 81 Preview, Prediction, Odds

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings are closing in on the final game. They wrapped things up in their last home game of the year as they took on the Stars on Monday evening. Dallas put a beat down on the Red Wings, and they have to be looking for a better result in the last two games.

For the Detroit Red Wings, it’s a bittersweet finish to the season. But after wrapping up their home slate of games, they got on a plane and headed east. The Red Wings are facing off against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes are a contender, and the Red Wings will have their hands full, as is the case all week long with three contenders on the schedule to close things out. However, the Red Wings showed some serious growth this season, and a couple of wins to end the campaign sure would be nice.

The 2022-23 season was a good step in the right direction, even if there were some “setbacks” in trades being made. The 2023-24 season is leaving a lot to be excited about; the Red Wings need to put the final nails into the 2022-23 coffin.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Hurricanes

The Red Wings were beaten badly in Monday night’s loss to the Stars. The Hurricanes also dropped their match-up with Ottawa, meaning they will be fighting to try and earn two points against Detroit.

Husso left the game early on Monday and may have another tough match-up ahead against Carolina. If not Husso, it will be Hellberg between the pipes against the Hurricanes.

Game: Detroit Red Wings (35-35-10) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (50-21-9)

When: Tuesday, April 11th

Time: 7:00 PM ET

Where: PNC Arena

Where to Watch: Bally Sports Detroit/ ESPN+

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Carolina Hurricanes are the favorite with a -240 payout on the Moneyline. The Detroit Red Wings have a +200 payout on the Moneyline and are +1.5 with a -110 payout on the Puck Line. The Hurricanes are also -1.5 on the Puck Line with a -110 payout. The over/under is set at 6. The over has a -105 payout, and the under has a -115 payout.

Prediction: After the embarrassment of last night’s 6-1 loss to the Stars, the Red Wings have to be looking to come out and right the ship against Carolina. It won’t be easy, so I think Carolina will take it home, and I’m not sure I’m willing to take the Red Wings Moneyline. However, the Red Wings’ embarrassing loss to Dallas might spark a better result on Tuesday. For that reason, I’d look to find some value in Detroit +1.5, depending on how the line changes. I like the over in this one as well.
