The Detroit Red Wings are looking to settle in nicely as he makes the jump from the QMJHL into the minors. He’s on the road to Hockeytown, and Alexandre Doucet is someone that the team is hoping could bring some value if he jumps into the organization and handles himself well.
The Detroit Red Wings signed Doucet to his entry-level contract and are hoping that he can provide some impressive abilities and value as he continues to develop. He was signed last season and put up some outstanding numbers as things would stand.
The 21-year-old forward shoots it from the left side and has a 6-foot, 187-pound frame. He’s got plenty of athleticism on the skates and moves well to make things happen offensively, using his size to be a good skater and create opportunities for himself.
The Red Wings have to be hopeful for what he could bring to the table in the future. Especially after the year he had in 2022-23, there’s hope that he could bring some value to the Red Wings at one point.

In 2022-23, Doucet spent time with two QMJHL clubs. He was with the Val-d’Or Foreurs and then the Halifax Mooseheads. He played in 34 games with the Foreurs, scoring 27 goals and adding 26 assists for 53 total points. He played in 36 games with the Mooseheads, scoring 31 goals and adding 31 assists for 62 total points.
Combining that together during the regular season between the two squads, he played in 70 games. He scored 58 goals and added 57 assists for 115 total points. Silly good numbers, that carried over into the playoffs with the Mooseheads as well.
It did not stop him as Doucet played in 21 playoff games last season, scoring 14 goals and adding 17 assists for 31 total points. It was an insanely good year for the forward, who is looking to jump into the minors and settle in nicely.
While he was not a draftee, he was from the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, where things got a little tricky in terms of scouting. Who’s to say he was not a diamond in the rough that some teams missed out on? Either way, the Red Wings are going to give Doucet a chance.
It seems like Doucet might be able to bring some value if he’s able to find that offensive game at the AHL level too. He proved himself at the junior level but now has to look to find that offense and tap into production at the next level.
He’s certainly a player that Red Wings fans should watch this fall.
