About Day 1: The Red Wings had two picks in the first round and used them both. With the ninth overall selection, they took Nate Danielson, a teenage center from the Western Hockey League. Then at No. 17, the Wings picked Swedish defenseman Axel Sandin Pellikka.

The Wings had eight picks across the six rounds entering Thursday, including three in the second round.
