Detroit Red Wings vs. Kraken Game 7 Preview, Prediction, Odds

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings are on a heater right now. They are 5-1, with a five-game win streak, playing out of their minds in the early parts of the 2023-24 season. This upcoming week will be a good test of where the Red Wings stand.

They have a couple of tough match-ups coming up, and while the Detroit Red Wings have won their last five, it’s hard to expect this from them. The regression to the level of play that is more sustainable is likely coming, but the Red Wings might be a different team; in fact, they are.

While the Red Wings are on a heater, they deserve some credit for the success that they have found so far. Between Alex DeBrincat leading the league in points, Dylan Larkin finding a new role, and the power play doing unheard-of things, Detroit’s got it going for them.

Seattle comes to town as they are kicking off a road trip, and they desperately need a win. They have three points on the year, with just one win. Something’s got to give for them, and Detroit’s just hoping it’s not against them.

There’s a good chance that Detroit can come out and get it done with how things have gone for Seattle so far, but time will tell. Seattle needs one of those games where they are able to come to get it done, but with how hot Detroit is, it’s going to be hard to see that happening.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Kraken

Game: Detroit Red Wings (5-1-0) vs. Seattle Kraken (1-4-1)

When: Tuesday, October 24th

Time: 8:15 PM ET

Where: Little Caesars Arena

Where to Watch: Bally Sports Detroit/ ESPN+

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Detroit Red Wings are the favorite on the Moneyline with a -142 payout. Seattle is +120 on the Moneyline and is the favorite on the Puck Line. They are +1.5 with a -205 payout on the Puck Line. Detroit is -1.5 with a +170 payout on the Puck Line. The over/under is set at 6.5. Both the over and under have a -110 payout at the time of writing.

I do have to say, it has been shocking to see Detroit not being the favorite too often in 2023-24. Five in a row, and they are the favorite against a 1-4-1 team. Interesting to see how the books look at things. Seems they are not bought in on the Red Wings quite yet; maybe this week will change that.

Prediction: One of these times, I’m going to get burned. But for the time being, I’m sticking with Detroit once again. With the way they have been scoring and the Kraken’s early-season struggles, it could be a recipe for a high-scoring matchup. At least for the Red Wings. With that in mind, I’m taking the Red Wings -1.5 on the Puck Line and the over in this one.

A step further, why not ride the hot hand and look to find some value with a couple of player props? The Dylan Larkin Shots-On-Goal prop might be interesting. Larkin has been averaging over 4 shots a game. If the line were to be 4.5 or lower, I’m taking the over on that. For Alex DeBrincat, look for value with the anytime goalscorer bet or the line for points.
