Detroit Red Wings vs. Bruins Game 9 Preview, Prediction, Odds

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings have dropped their last two games and are in a bit of a lull this week. It has not been the same team that they showed up to be earlier during their five-game win streak. The bad news is things are not going to get any easier.

As the Detroit Red Wings head into the weekend, they’re traveling out east for a two-game set. The Red Wings will face off against Boston and then head to New York to take on the Islanders on Monday as part of the two-game road trip.

Detroit’s got a real tough test ahead as they face off against the Boston Bruins. Boston is undefeated in regulation this season, and they’re no stranger to being a juggernaut. The last few years have been a lot of the Bruins being dominant throughout the regular season.

They have been a problem for the Red Wings, who have struggled to pick up points against Boston on more than one occasion. Detroit’s got to come out and be the team they were against Calgary and Ottawa rather than the team they were this week against the Jets.

Boston’s got firepower. Brad Marchand is still a problem and will be a pest against the Red Wings all night long. David Pastrnak is one of the best goal-scorers in the league and has been a truly dominant player in this league.

Detroit’s rough game on Thursday has to be one they can shake. Clean the slate and come back on Saturday ready to rock’n’roll. If Detroit wants a chance to compete with Boston, they must come out refreshed and ready to go the moment the puck drops.

While Boston’s been unable to score at the rate they usually do, their goaltending has held their opponents to eleven goals over seven games. They’ve only scored 22 goals, but there’s no secret to what that offense is capable of.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Boston Bruins

Game: Detroit Red Wings (5-2-1) vs. Boston Bruins (6-0-1)

When: Saturday, October 28th

Time: 7:00 PM ET

Where: TD Garden

Where to Watch: Bally Sports Detroit/ ESPN+

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Boston Bruins are the favorite in this once, with a -192 payout on the Moneyline. The Detroit Red Wings are +160 on the Moneyline while being +1.5 with a -135 payout as the favorite on the Puck Line. Boston is -1.5 with a +114 payout on the Puck Line. The over/under is set at 6.0. The over is the favorite at -115, and the under is -105 with the current payouts.

Prediction: The Red Wings are looking to snap a two-game losing skid, and Boston is not an easy opponent to try and accomplish that. That being said, the betting scheme is tough if you’re looking for value with the Red Wings.

For this one, I’m rocking with Detroit +1.5 on the Puck Line and Lucas Raymond over on 0.5 points. I think Detroit will learn from their tough loss on Thursday. New line combinations might help them snap back into place and be the team that they have been early on in 2023-24.
