Detroit Red Wings back in action vs. Panthers; looking to maintain success

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings are back in action as they’re on home ice after a weekend road trip. After a two-game stretch out east, the Red Wings were able to snap their skid. They came up big in overtime against the New York Islanders.

For the Detroit Red Wings, this will be an excellent chance to square off with a tough opponent within the division. The Red Wings have their work cut out for them, and they are trying to maintain at the top of the division after their fiery hot start.

The Red Wings are 6-3-1 with 13 points on the season, and while the Panthers are 4-3-1 with only nine points through their first eight games. The Panthers will put up a fight, and it will be good to see Detroit against a big team, especially after the tough performance against the Boston Bruins.

The Panthers have a negative-1 goal differential, and Detroit’s still ahead of the game with a plus-9 goal differential on the season. Detroit put a ton of pressure on the defensive Islanders team that proved to be successful.

The offense produced late in the game after finally getting to the Islanders with relentless pressure. It was an excellent start to the game, something that Derek Lalonde has been wanting from his team as the three-game skid occurred.

Detroit Red Wings are hoping to be relentless vs. the Panthers on Thursday.

Game: Detroit Red Wings (6-3-1) vs. Florida Panthers (4-3-1)

Time: 7:00 PM ET

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Detroit Red Wings are -102 on the Moneyline, and the Florida Panthers are -118 on the Moneyline. The Red Wings are +1.5 on the Puck Line, being the favorite, with a -250 payout. The Panthers are -1.5 on the Puck Line with a +205 payout. The over/under is set at 6.5. The over has a -125 payout. The under has a +105 payout.

Prediction: The Detroit Red Wings snapped their three-game skid with an overtime win on Monday against the Islanders. However, the Panthers may provide a tough test for Detroit. They are on home ice looking for their second straight win. They’re atop the Atlantic Division, looking to continue to hold steady and compete for a chance to make the postseason. This game against the Panthers will be a good test, with the Panthers being a worthy opponent.

The safe bet is to rock with the Red Wings on the Puck Line, especially with the Moneyline being tough odds-wise. For that reason, I’m going with Red Wings +1.5 on the Puck Line and looking for value in Player Props. For that reason, look for value in the over on points for Dylan Larkin.
