Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat pushing for 40 goals

Octopus Thrower

The Detroit Red Wings’ big move of the summer was bringing in Alex DeBrincat after swinging a trade with the Ottawa Senators. It seemed like a shifting of the tide as DeBrincat came to Hockeytown, and it signaled a positive change in direction.

For DeBrincat, he was able to settle in well and get into a groove quickly. The Detroit Red Wings were off to a hot start in 2023-24, and part of that was due to bringing in DeBrincat. His influx of offense was great for the team, and it has a chance to continue to be a big piece of the puzzle.

DeBrincat was atop the league in scoring in the early parts of the season but cooled off slightly. He’s still having a great season and continuing to get the job done for Detroit, scoring and bringing a nice influx of offense.

The addition of Patrick Kane after being signed only helps Detroit as well. He’s going to bring a nice boost to the offense and also to DeBrincat’s output. The two have chemistry, and it is evident that they will play well with one another.

Can Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat score 40 goals?

Through the beginning parts of the Detroit Red Wings 2023-24 season, Alex DeBrincat has been a bright spot, and with Kane, there’s a chance it continues to improve. He’s played in 25 games where he has 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 total points on the season.

Even with a scoring surge early on, DeBrincat continues to find ways to get involved and score some goals. The big question is if they can score 40 goals. The last time someone scored 40 goals in Detroit was when Big Hoss, Marian Hossa, played for the Red Wings.

DeBrincat is on pace for 42 goals as things stand, which would eclipse that 40-goal mark just barely. It’s something the Red Wings could very much so see happen if the DeBrincat-Kane connection gets alive and well.

DeBrincat has a real chance of scoring 40 goals this year, which is certainly a possibility. He could find a way to get up that mountain. It would not be the first time in his career, either. He has two years in his career where he crossed the 40-goal threshold. Why not add a third?

If only it were that easy. But DeBrincat has shown that he has the scoring touch. He just needs to find ways to keep tapping into it the rest of the way in 2023-24.
