The Detroit Red Wings may have suffered a real tough loss against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night. While the real loss comes with Dylan Larkin’s injury and the drama surrounding that, there were some positives to take away.

Rather than dwell on the negatives, which are indeed a problem, why not remove some positives? The Detroit Red Wings were able to get a big goal out of the way in Saturday night’s contest.

After being signed recently, Red Wings forward Patrick Kane scored his first goal of the campaign and first tally with his new squad. The Red Wings signed Kane, and he was able to get involved quickly, as was expected.

Kane may have looked great in his debut, rolling through with the offense and putting together some scoring chances. However, he did not get his first tally until the Red Wings clash with the Senators.

It has to be nice to see one land, as Kane was able to find the back of the net. The veteran winger made a really nice play on the zone entry to be in position and followed it up with a good shot to find the back of the net and then celebrate as he is known for.

Red Wings forward and partner-in-crime Alex DeBrincat grabbed the puck as he was making his move for the zone entry. He dished it to Kane, who was pushing wide with him. Kane was able to carry the puck and use some separation to create the scoring chance.

He let a beautiful wrist shot go, beating the goalie before making his way around the net to drop to a knee and pump his fist in celebration. Not everyone likes a showboat, and the celebration was colorful, but Kane is known for his celebrations.

Here’s the whole sequence of the play, goal, and celebration in its entirety:

The Red Wings loss may have a real sour taste to it. Especially after the cross-check with Larkin and all that ensued, the Red Wings have to be happy with Kane finding the back of the net. He looked good out there for the Red Wings, even in just his second game in a Red Wings uniform.

It has to be excellent for Kane as well. With a lot of questions surrounding his ability to return to play and his ability to settle back into a forward core, Kane has been able to play well early on. Sure, it’s just two games, but Kane has looked the part in his first two games.
