The Detroit Red Wings are in a tough spot right now with their missing players. They are without a few key centermen in Dylan Larkin and J.T. Compher. While Compher may be back soon, it leaves the Red Wings short-handed. Klim Kostin is on the IR, and David Perron is suspended.

But, amid all the negatives, a few of the Detroit Red Wings players continue to find some positives. Lucas Raymond was able to get the job done amid the many absences. He has stepped up and looked pretty good alongside Robby Fabbri.

However, Raymond made some personal history of his own on Tuesday night. Raymond tallied a goal as part of the Red Wings’ march to victory in a game that they should not have won. Raymond scored career goal no—50 on Tuesday night.

It’s pretty wild to think that the Red Wings youngster has cracked 50 goals in his career. Sure, he’s in year three now, and there was hope that he could break out immediately, but his sophomore slump in 2022-23 certainly worried some folks.

Do not fret. Raymond’s strapped in this year, and even if the points are not flowing in, he’s looking good and on pace for a great season. Even amid the absences, Raymond finds ways to create scoring chances, as mentioned above.

Raymond’s powerplay tuck on Wednesday was a big one, as he grabbed no. 50. He was cycling out front as the Red Wings moved the puck while on the powerplay. Raymond was able to catch a pass from Fabbri and then rip it home to score the goal.

Here’s the play & goal as it unfolded on Tuesday night:

Raymond’s looking good as of late. He’s settling in and getting his NHL legs under him more and more over time. Raymond has played in 28 games this season, scoring ten goals and adding 14 assists for 24 total points.

He’s on pace for an excellent season as things stand. It’s great to see after a kind of “down” year in his sophomore season with the Red Wings. With the Red Wings having some issues with depth right now, having a player like Raymond step up is huge for them.

If he can continue to string a few good games together, especially after a nice milestone goal on Tuesday night, it may do well for his confidence moving forward. The Red Wings should be happy with how Raymond has performed, and lately, it seems like he’s up to the task.
